Privacy Policy
Last updated: 26 July 2026
1. Introduction
Get Trip Sorted ("Get Trip Sorted", "we", "us", or "our") operates a flight search and comparison website that helps you find flight deals from third-party travel providers. We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).
This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we collect it, how we use and disclose it, and the rights you have in relation to it. By using Get Trip Sorted, you agree to the collection and handling of your information as described in this policy.
2. Personal information we collect
We collect the following kinds of personal information:
- Search information — origin, destination, travel dates, and passenger count you enter when searching for flights.
- Usage data — pages visited, links clicked, search results viewed, and general interaction with the site, collected automatically via cookies and similar technologies.
- Device and log data — IP address, browser type, operating system, referring URLs, and timestamps.
- Location information — with your permission, your device's approximate location (via your browser's geolocation feature), used only to suggest a default currency for prices. You can decline this permission in your browser and still use the full site; we don't retain your coordinates, only the resulting currency preference.
- Contact information — if you contact us directly (e.g. via our contact form or by email), we collect your name, email address, and the contents of your message.
We do not collect or process payment card details, and we do not knowingly collect sensitive information (as defined under the Privacy Act) through this website. Get Trip Sorted does not process bookings or payments directly — when you select a flight, you are redirected to a third-party travel provider to complete your purchase on their own site, under their own privacy policy.
3. How we collect personal information
We collect personal information directly from you when you use our search form or contact us, and automatically through cookies and similar tracking technologies as you browse the site. Where practicable, we only collect personal information directly from you.
4. How we use and disclose your information
- To provide and operate flight search and comparison results.
- To improve, personalise, and troubleshoot our website.
- To measure the performance of affiliate links and referral traffic sent to our travel partners via the Travelpayouts affiliate network.
- To respond to your enquiries and customer support requests.
- To detect, prevent, and address technical issues or misuse.
- To comply with our legal obligations in Australia and elsewhere.
We do not use or disclose your personal information for any other purpose without your consent, unless required or authorised by law.
5. Cookies and tracking
We use cookies and similar technologies to remember your preferences (such as your selected currency and light/dark theme), understand how visitors use our site, and attribute bookings made through our affiliate links. You can set your browser to refuse cookies or alert you when cookies are being sent; however, some parts of the site may not function properly without them.
When you first visit, you can choose "Accept all" or "Essential only". Essential cookies and storage keep the site working and remember your currency and theme. Choosing "Accept all" also allows us to ask for your location to suggest a currency, and to track affiliate referrals. You can change your choice at any time using "Cookie settings" in the footer.
6. Affiliate links and third parties
Get Trip Sorted participates in the Travelpayouts affiliate network. When you click a flight deal and continue to book, you are taken to a third-party travel provider's website. Get Trip Sorted may earn a commission on bookings made through these links. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these third-party sites, and we encourage you to review their privacy policies before providing any personal or payment information.
7. Overseas disclosure
Some of the service providers we use to operate Get Trip Sorted (including hosting, analytics, the Travelpayouts affiliate network and its partner travel providers, and — only if you grant location permission — a reverse-geocoding provider used to turn your coordinates into a currency suggestion) may store or process personal information on servers located outside Australia, including in the United States, the European Union, and other jurisdictions in which our providers or partners operate. Where we disclose personal information to overseas recipients, we take reasonable steps to ensure those recipients handle your information consistently with the APPs, to the extent practicable.
8. Data security and retention
We take reasonable technical and organisational steps to protect the personal information we hold from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access, modification, or disclosure. We retain personal information only for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes described in this policy, or as required by law, and take reasonable steps to destroy or de-identify information we no longer need.
9. Access and correction
You may request access to the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it, by contacting us using the details below. We will respond to your request within a reasonable period. In some circumstances permitted by the Privacy Act, we may decline a request for access or correction, in which case we will explain our reasons.
10. How to make a complaint
If you believe we have breached the APPs or mishandled your personal information, please contact us using the details below with a description of your concern. We will investigate and aim to respond within a reasonable timeframe.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you may lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au or by calling 1300 363 992.
11. Notifiable data breaches
In the event of a data breach involving personal information that is likely to result in serious harm, we will comply with our obligations under the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme in Part IIIC of the Privacy Act, including notifying affected individuals and the OAIC where required.
12. Children's privacy
Get Trip Sorted is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to our practices or legal obligations. We will post any changes on this page and update the "Last updated" date above.
